Dark Hill (Score)

leepback Posted: 8 June 2010, 6:05 PM [NZ Time]   Had a great time but my legs gave out and was 36 seconds late.   wetmit Posted: 9 June 2010, 4:21 PM [NZ Time]   My path on the 60 point course: 1G-3G-2E-1D-3F-2C-2A-1A-1B-(3C)-2B-2D-1E-2G-(1F)-1J-2K in 43:32 for 25 points. Started well, took a bit to get use to the small scale then the thickness of the green. Worked my way up hill to 2A and then around to 1A. Went to get 1B and took 5 minutes to find it. Spent too long looking at the rocks north of the control while looking west and saying I am in line with the shed so I am in the correct place. Finally got it and then went to 3B. Contoured around , hit the rocks and whet up/north and around the green. Crossed the creek above the rock face but could not find the control. Zig-zagged my way up till I could see 1A, then back down till I hit the green, but still no control. Gave up in the end and went across and into 2B exactly where I thought it should be. Anyway after taking 16 minutes to go 1A-1B-(3C)-2B it was time to head back. Missed 1F on the way along the ridge before deciding I was past it and half way to 1J. Picked up 2K on the way back to the finish despite being worried about my time. An interesting experience as this was my first time on this map.   wetmit Posted: 9 June 2010, 4:21 PM [NZ Time]   ?
