Routegadget is available for BOSS5

Please draw your course on the main map only - it will get very confusing if you use the detail map as well
It's easier to start drawing your route if you turn <snap> off until you are away from the start, and then turn it back on when you finish.
If you have a problem you can't fix, draw the route again and I will delete the problem version |
yoda | Posted: 9 March 2010, 2:11 PM [NZ Time] I went into this event with a poor mental attitude, and a lingering cold from the weekend before so didnt anticipate getting much enjoyment from it. And from the start, being typically unorganised and therefore having limited map review I struggled to get my head into the map and head off confidently. Took me quite a few checkpoints and by this time I was happy enough to take it at a more leisurely pace. Of course, with so many stars out due to equipment failure I actually had an opportunity to get into single figures on the scoreboard, so shame on me for not sucking it up and giving it my best shot!
I found the course challenging in some parts navigationally with the myriad of paths to confuse, but enjoyed the challenge. The course was interesting enough, though I was amazed at how much rubbish, glass and metal there was around - I was counting myself very lucky to have avoided a flat tyre.
Overall, I enjoyed the event, despite myself. I really enjoyed the BOSS series and I look forward to the next installment.
Thanks to Andrew (and Nic) and the others that got it off the ground. One comment - I found it hard (impossible) to locate old BOSS results on the website. Otherwise with my limited experience it was smoothly run, enjoyable, interesting and most definitely a challenge which improved my fitness. Thanks! |
berty beetle | Posted: 9 March 2010, 6:02 PM [NZ Time] I was one of the 21 that did them all, and thoroughly enjoyed it - thanks a lot to Andrew and the team involved with planning and organising. This 5th event was quite an effort for me, mainly because I had to get there from a 60km MTB race in Canberra the day before - I put all my energy into that and was making big mistakes on Sunday! All good fun though, and thanks again for opening it up to outsiders (I'm a MTN Devils member). Speaking of outsiders, one of the local Pelaw Main MTB riders stopped me on the track and was asking about what we were doing (as if I needed a 5 min chat), so I pointed him to the oval in case there was a spare map for him. And although I wasn't too worried about overall placings, agree with Yoda, it is nice to be able to see progress and results. Anyway, very much looking fwd to next summer's BOSS. |
