yoda | Posted: 4 February 2010, 4:30 PM [NZ Time] I'm disappointed the series is almost over. I'm happy I am improving even though it doesn't feel like its getting any easier...! Thanks to course setters and organisers!!! |
o_grub | Posted: 4 February 2010, 7:46 PM [NZ Time] Unfortunately went southwest first to the land of the missing contours so did a lot more early climb than intended to 2E & 3D (note this cul-de-sac is further south than mapped) then going south ran off the map missing the turn off to 2F. After looping around an extra 450m got to 2F then headed east (1H-3C-1F-2D-2B-1B-3A-2A)then back along top of map (1A-1C-2C-3B-2H (note hospital grounds are double the size than mapped)-2I). Finished through 1M-2G-1K-1I 1m31s late giving score of 36pts. Great area for St O. Hopefully next time all the contours will be on the map! |
A High Wander | Posted: 5 February 2010, 1:34 AM [NZ Time] Yoda, Don't worry that the Street O is nearly over. The park series follows which keeps you busy on Wednesday nights for another month or so, then "Real" Orienteering starts up again. Street O is fine in the summer but doesn't come close to bush Orienteering. |
yoda | Posted: 5 February 2010, 3:43 PM [NZ Time] Hi AHW,
Thanks for the info, have to find out more about the park series, I also have to look into when the Bush Orienteering is on, and how long it runs for - the 45 minute StreetO events are just short enough that its well worth the run, and not too much time away from the family. My wife deserves some free time of her own, though I am struggling to accept the reality of my circumstances! |
