I went into this event with a poor mental attitude, and a lingering cold from the weekend before so didnt anticipate getting much enjoyment from it. And from the start, being typically unorganised and therefore having limited map review I struggled to get my head into the map and head off confidently. Took me quite a few checkpoints and by this time I was happy enough to take it at a more leisurely pace. Of course, with so many stars out due to equipment failure I actually had an opportunity to get into single figures on the scoreboard, so shame on me for not sucking it up and giving it my best shot! I found the course challenging in some parts navigationally with the myriad of paths to confuse, but enjoyed the challenge. The course was interesting enough, though I was amazed at how much rubbish, glass and metal there was around - I was counting myself very lucky to have avoided a flat tyre. Overall, I enjoyed the event, despite myself. I really enjoyed the BOSS series and I look forward to the next installment. Thanks to Andrew (and Nic) and the others that got it off the ground. One comment - I found it hard (impossible) to locate old BOSS results on the website. Otherwise with my limited experience it was smoothly run, enjoyable, interesting and most definitely a challenge which improved my fitness. Thanks!
