Once again I felt crap, more so than can be accounted for by the recent Suburban Safari. Actually felt worse on this than nearly anytime during that event. Decided I couldn’t face the hills so took off initially to the North. With the luxury of not expecting to bag the lot I dropped a couple of one pointers and had an efficient but slowish trip in a sort of clockwise direction around the flatlands. Got past by a couple of younger blokes but it didn’t throw me much as I knew there wasn’t a lot of use trying to keep up. Eventually I crossed the road picked up the school P&C clue then travelled around the perimeter of the hilly section trying to limit my climb as much as possible. Think this worked OK as I scored a lot more than I should have at my pace. Managed to get all the 3-point controls. Perhaps in hindsight I should have gathered up 1H for an easy extra point as I would have had time. This would have lifted me at least six places higher. Once again I on comparison with a youngster I had less distance for 3 more points. He wasn’t happy. Thanks to Bob for the course and Margaret & Karen for giving up their chance to run so that they could offer Bob assistance (even though we all know they were just too sore after trying to unsuccessfully beat me and Berko on Sunday.) Distance: 6:55 km (not very far really) Time: 43:37 Points: 37
